TRB Standing Committee on Transit Data and Emerging Technologies (AP017)

Committee Member

Active Member

Serving as an appointed member of the standing technical committee AP017 under the Transportation Research Board (TRB), a division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

  • Participate in identifying research needs and sharing critical findings related to transit data.
  • Contribute to reviewing research papers, evaluating proposals, and fostering dialogue on emerging transportation technologies.

TRB Standing Committee on Visualization in Transportation (AED80)

Committee Communications Coordinator

As the Communications Coordinator for the AED80 Committee under the Transportation Research Board (TRB), I managed our digital presence and facilitated information sharing within our transportation visualization community.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Digital Presence: Maintaining and updating the committee website to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Newsletter Curation: Curating and distributing the quarterly Visualization Roundup newsletter.
  • Outreach & Communication: Supporting various committee communication initiatives and updates.
  • Subcommittee Participation: Actively participating in specialized subcommittees (including BIM for Infrastructure, Performance Visualization, Interactive and Immersive Simulation, and Cartographic Visualization).

This volunteer role allowed me to contribute to the advancement of visualization techniques in the transportation sector.

TAMU Institute of Transportation Engineers Student Chapter (TamuITE)

Webmaster & Publicist

As part of the Texas A&M ITE student group, I managed the website of TamuITE alongside creating posters for technical workshops and general meetings. I also managed the Facebook and Twitter handles. The most challenging and exciting work was designing the Annual Report.

Head & Mentor
  • Headed a team of 8 students that developed the “IIT Madras Students App”, which achieved over 5,000 downloads with a 4.6/5 rating.
  • Developed a dynamic and flexible backend architecture and optimized data consumption.

Autodrive Challenge

Perception Mentor
  • Worked towards Year 3 of the competition as a Perception Mentor (Guide - Dr. Alireza Talebpour).
  • Used an ensemble of image processing algorithms to detect parking spots for Autonomous vehicles.
  • Presented a social responsibility report portraying challenges for Autonomous Vehicles with regards to human-vehicle interaction, ethical issues, costs, and societal acceptance.
  • Secured 3rd place in Year 2 of the competition consisting of various static and dynamic events.

I am an experienced drone operator with over 30 hours of flying in manual and assisted manual modes, including custom-built drones. I usually fly drones for research purposes. Occasionally, I fly drones as a hobby or for recreational purposes to shoot photos or videos.
